Women in Games Award
On Thursday 24 September I took a day trip1 to London to attend the 2026 MCV/Develop Women in Games Awards ceremony for which I was a finalist in the “Campaigner” category, having been nominated for it by some of my comrades from IWGB Game Workers. I was not expecting to be a finalist when they asked if they could put my name forward, and I certainly was not expecting to be called up on stage to accept the “Games Campaigner 2026” award.
You can watch me awkwardly do so on Twitch.
I’m not a big proponent (or consumer) of award-y things like these but I see the utility and I’m grateful for the opportunity to represent the union.
The crowd of attendees was an interesting mix and I wish I’d had time to talk to more people. The games industry has a lot of cool women in it and it felt restorative to spend an afternoon surrounded by some of them.

This was a very questionable decision as I absolutely could have stayed overnight somewhere in London. ↩
